Attention all Rocky Mount families with children who will be 4 or 5 years old on or before August 31, 2024!

Please plan to join us for the 2024-2025 school year! Edgecombe County Public Schools is eager to welcome all Rocky Mount children and families. We can't wait to begin our educational journey with your family.

Preschool- child must be 4 on or before August 31, 2024

Our preschool program offers inclusive educational opportunities for children who will be 4 years old on or before August 31st of the service year. Preschool programs are located at several elementary schools across our district. Eligibility is determined through an application process. Children are placed based on eligibility and availability of slots at each site. Information regarding the preschool application process and locations, dates, and times will be forthcoming soon.

Preschool Application Requirements and Necessary Supporting Documents

  • The child must be 4 years old on or before August 31, 2024

  • Certified birth certificate

  • Two (2) proofs of physical address (ex: utility bill, lease agreement or official mail delivered by USPS to home address; please note: driver's license does not serve as proof of physical address)

  • Current immunization record

  • Current health assessment

  • Paystubs for 30 consecutive days of employment from parent/guardian

  • Documentation of other income (ex: SSA, child support, etc.)

  • Proof of guardianship, if applicable

Kindergarten- child must be 5 on or before August 31, 2024

If you have a child who will be five years old on or before August 31, 2024 please plan to register them for kindergarten. Information regarding the kindergarten registration process and locations, dates, and times will be forthcoming soon.

Preschool Exceptional Children's Program- children ages 3-5
